I saw a post by Heather on one of the facebook groups and thought it was great. It contained detailed information of her regime, which could be useful for UCers that want to try other approaches, and was positive as well. She was kind enough to allow me to put it onto the website, adding that if she can help even one person, she would be thrilled! Well said

Diagnosed in 1997, Heather had been having flare-ups and taken meds on and off until around 2012, when she decided to experiment with supplements to see if she could stay in remission - three months of experimentation has led to constant remission since then.

She has felt 'awesome and energetic' since the start of the supplements and is relieved to have her life back. She also mentioned that she feels ten years younger! Great to hear this, well done Heather.

As ever, remember that those sufferering from Ulcerative Colitis are all different, so what works for one may not work for another, therefore, trial and error is important. Onto the regime...

  • Highly processed food
  • Fast food
  • Sugar
  • Wheat
  • Spicy food
  • Carbohydrates
  • Bought from the local grocery store/vitamin store or online through Swansons
  • Boswellia x 3
  • Turmeric x 2
  • Probiotic x 1
  • Fish oil x 1
  • Woman's multivitamin x 1
  • Drink 8 glasses of water per day
  • Exercise
  • Essential oils used daily to ease stress & calm nerves
  • Plants added to the home to improve air quality and oyxgen

Heather points out that she keeps her supplements with her at all times so she doesn't miss a dose - she forgot one day and some symptoms reappeared within 24 hours

Although exercise helped, Heather concedes that you can't really get into it until you have more energy and you aren't in pain. She suggests starting with the supplements (and eliminating the bad foods) then move onto the exercise when you have more energy.
